Katie Mohamed is a premier marketing and media maven, businesswomen, public speaker, philanthropist and the Founder of W-Suite, a female empowerment platform creating a network of collaborations and connectivity. From humble beginnings in Richmond, Kwa-Zulu Natal, to the cutthroat media world of Johannesburg, Katie has evolved into an industry game-changer, honing her craft and talents within the media spectrum. Katie shot up the ranks in the SABC and appeared in a few TV shows of her own, before taking the leap as an entrepreneur. She has produced various content pieces and executive produced the award-winning short film “The Deal” in 2022. She now co-hosts the hit podcast, Outspoken Owls, with Lynn Forbes. Outspoken Owls unapologetically dives into the challenges and triumphs that women in their mid-life experience on a day-to-day basis. Upon developing a recognisable brand, Katie committed herself to changing the landscape for South African Women. As founder and CEO of W-Suite, Katie continually donates to assist women empowerment, but it is her personal on-the-ground work that is truly inspiring. Katie has mentored many South African women and has played a vital role in connecting influential South African women, and creating a network of high-profile activists, engendering further conversation and action around gender parity – both locally and globally. Katie Mohamed has wielded her influence as a media personality and businesswoman to advance conversations around gender equity, and the role of women in the global economy. Katie has for years played an active role in resurfacing the gender gaps that plague the South African economy. Katie has worked tirelessly to create a position for herself where she can connect the talented with the influential – and foster partnerships that grow the knowledge economy and build a better future for women. Katie has dedicated herself to women into high-ranking positions, and empowering women so that they can sit at the same C-Suite table as men. Her work has caused ripple effects throughout the gender landscape, and the furthered recognition of her continued work will continue to reshape the future for women everywhere.

The persistence of inequality between men and women in the 21st century remains a key point of discussion. Despite advances in working towards gender parity and progress particularly in business, gender diversity at the top echelons of business and government remains regrettably low.
